Do You Fancy? Springtime in Capri

iwander_ff_marcia

If Marcia Brady married a billionaire and they flew off to Capri, I think this is what she would wear. Or maybe it's just what I would wear if I happened to marry a billionaire and fly off to Capri. Either way, I'm dreaming of a vacation.

I have been obsessed with the high waisted short lately. With a little more work on the booty region I think I can score a few pairs for my weekend wanderings since they aren't really office appropriate. These printed ones are definitely my favorite. They evoke a fun 60's glamour, like someone should be wearing them in a Beach Boys music video, right?

Other than that, my travel and summer necessities include a fabulous sunhat, cat-eye frames, the perfect sunscreen, and walkable shoes. I have fallen madly in love with these Jeffrey Campbell loafers in this white leopard print. They'll go with everything!

As far as the sunscreen goes, my short stint working at Sephora introduced me to this incredible Clarins one. It's odor-less and goes on incredibly smoothly. It feels like a moisturizer but gives you great sun protection. I know it seems pricey for sunblock, but I do recommend the investment. All you need is a little bit so it will last you all summer and it's really important that we all wear our sun protection daily.

Anyway, I'm off to enjoy my weekend that will include seeing Bridesmaids, going to my boss's birthday party, and continuing work on the music video my friends and I have been putting together. Can't wait to share it with you guys. Hope you have a great weekend!

One of my coworkers told me that I look like Indiana Jones' wife in this outfit, and though she was pretty accurate, it made me wonder whether my looks sometime erred on the side of costumery. Working on this blog has helped me hone in on my personal style and I'm not really the most casual of girls, so on the days when I want to dress casually, there really isn't much to choose from in my closet.

I've been feeling a bit more stressed than usual lately. Last week, I thought I had found the perfect place to live and this week, the place fell through. It's been exhausting to search for a place because I'm not really one to settle and I'm convinced that I will find something that is just right for what I both want and need. This stress has definitely taken my attention off my wardrobe and has made it harder to get dressed in the morning. These are the days I dream I had a more California casual wardrobe. Instead, I decided to work with this skirt and try to make it more casual by mixing it with other neutrals. I think it worked out pretty well. You think Indiana Jones would be proud?

I apologize for rather disappearing from the blog the past week. Among other things, boyfriend had hand surgery, I semi-organized a baby shower, and made significant headway into finding a new place to live. I'm still feeling a bit unorganized but I assume the rest of this month will feel like that until I get a place and get settled.

Can you believe I got this sweater on ebay? I used to think, who buys clothes on ebay? But then I started browsing and sometimes a girl's just gotta take a chance on a bid. Total score. It's been a bit chilly lately (notice the goosebumps), but I'm making sure the May flowers are present in this color combo and print. Stay warm, inspire warmth.

Today is May 3rd, Polish Constitution Day, so it seemed fitting to post my Polish pride, red and white polka dotted outfit. Not only are red and white the national colors, Polka also means Polish woman in the Polish language and it makes me wonder whether the bohemian dance and music of the same name had any inspiration in the naming of this classic pattern.

On the opposite side, the look also feels very all-American. If Marilyn Monroe baked pies she'd wear something like this, don't you think? It has a classic glamour with a little hollywood pin-up style peppered in, a look I simply can't resist.

This dress is another great thrift find. It was actually hanging in the window at my favorite local thrift shop and I wasn't immediately drawn to it but decided to give it a try anyway. I'm glad I did because it fits like a glove and is in fabulous condition.

P.S. Recognize the shoes? They were on my birthday wishlist and lucky 'ole me got them from boyfriend. They're taking a bit of breaking into but I'm loving their semi badass vibe.

Do You Fancy? Royal Weddings Ready

iwander_ff_royalwedding

Ok, so I can't say I've been crazy anticipating the royal wedding. Naturally, I was saddened that the prince was off the market. My mom called me the day they got engaged and made it a point to laugh that I had once said I would marry him and we both had a good giggle. Oh, such the eternal dreamer I am.

I do admit, I really can't wait to see the bride become a princess. I mean, come on, this is the stuff of real life fairy tales and I can't help but be intrigued by all the glamour that will ensue. I'm sure it would be a riot to attend the wedding, so I'm linking up my royal wedding guest ensemble for Friday Fancies this week. Of course, I needed the perfect Jane Taylor hat and other great British designers to complete the look. Erdem has the most beautiful patterned dresses and the company is based out of London, an Alexander McQueen gold clutch gives the conservative look a bit more edge, and since I anticipate it to be a bit nippy, a Stella McCartney cape to top it all off. Not to mention, my very own sapphire ring and a Cinderella-worthy shoe.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

So am I on a citrus kick or what? Not only is this the second neon item you've seen me in, it's the second you've seen me in this week! (Not to mention the denim neon pencil skirt I have stowed away in my dresser.) Most people don't own a single neon item and I own three, in pretty much the same exact shade. Does that say something about me?

Either way, I had to get this skirt. Scored it at the Salvation Army for $3. Hello, gorgeous. Other than the color, I love the full a-line and the embroidery on the hem, perfect for spring and summer.

How do you feel about the bright/neon trend?

[Inspiration] Sneaking into Summer

iwander_lilacslelefant

iwander_lilacs

The other day, I came home to a most beautiful seasonal smell; lilacs. For as long as I can remember, every spring when the lilacs bloomed, I would find some in the neighborhood and sneakily pick them. And so, as on impulse, I did the same exact thing when I spotted them at my neighbor's. Now even inside the apartment, with my windows ajar, I am enveloped in the smell of a forthcoming summer.

The elephant is a gift I received for my birthday from a couple of classy new pals and it's so adorable. It's actually a bank, perfect for saving up for those important things, like you know, a new spring/summer wardrobe. I've been recently collecting inspirational images for things I'd love to add to my wardrobe this season. Enjoy!
