Thrifted Prada

DSC_0442 copy

I have a love/hate relationship with bargain hunting. Love the bargain, hate the hunting. You have to be in the right mood to hunt and most of the time, I am not in that mood. But when that urge to thrift comes along, you never know what treasures you'll find. A couple of weeks ago, I found this blouse. It is vintage Prada and it cost me $20 at the thrift store. (Pause for a moment and take that in). This purchase made me believe in the beauty of the hunt again.

Here are a few useful thrifting tips a la me:

  • Try on anything and everything that grabs your attention. (You never know what will and won't work. )
  • Look for quality fabrics. Avoid polyesters. You want cottons, silk-blends, chiffons.
  • It doesn't have to fit perfectly but attractively. (Consider tailoring, too!)
  • Check for fabric damage and stains before purchasing.
  • Dry clean the garment. This seems to give it a fresh new life.

  5. What a great find! I love thrifting. I recently got a Dolce & Gabanna blazer on eBay for $20! I even saw it on sale at Century 21 for $200 a week later. SCORE!
