You guys, I made my first pie. Can you believe it? I, the not-so-ballsy baker, have made my first foray into the pastry paradise that lurks beyond the stove. And I'm not gonna lie, I was hella' proud of myself. I've eaten almost 1/3 of it all on my own because I think it's a bit too limey for the choco-loving boyfriend but heck! I wanted to make key lime. And you know why? Because I thought that limes were in season in the winter!
You see, I didn't think this until I went to the farmer's market in early summer in search of some and, to my dismay, they didn't have any. After asking the local citrus grocer, he informed me that they were really a winter citrus. However, upon further investigation online, this may not really be true. It seems as though most limes are available year round and peak in late summer. But then how would this explain the lack of limes at the market and the grocers tip? Anyone have any lead? Either way, there were plenty of limes at the local co-opportunity grocer and I went to town. Check out the fairly simple recipe here and let me know how it goes if you try it.

**These are the second food pictures with the canon and i'm curious for your opinion. Did you guys like the older photos taken with the nikon, like the pumpkin bread and cranberry sauce, or the newer ones taken with canon, like the linguine with butternut squash and the pie? I'm playing with what I like in the different cameras so I'd love to hear input.

ReplyDeleteChelsea, you are welcome over anytime, sugar! And thanks for the input. I was using Austin's Nikon D40, which I really liked for the food pictures and now I got my own Canon eos rebel t1i, so i'm still getting used to it. Which canon do you have?
Looks tasty!
