Indulgence Sundays

I'd like to think of Sundays as my indulgence days. I try to find a way to treat myself and relax from the clatter of the rest of the week in simple yet totally satisfying ways. Yesterday, I indulged in a Culver's ice cream sundae with all the trimmings and I watched one of my favorite movies, Atonement. If you haven't yet seen this movie, you need to add it to your Netflix cue and position that baby at #1. It is so visually enticing with every shot and the mise-en-scene just kills me. Not to mention, the library scene, which, in my opinion, is a sex scene not to be missed.

Anywho, I've noticed lately my fascination with the 30's/40's war era films and books have also led to the digression of my style into a more romantic and vintage persona. Everything Kiera Knightley dons in this film, I want.

Romantic loose blouses and structured skirts, or tailored pants.

Tailored jackets and hats, hats, hats!

And of course, the most incredible green dress.

The designer RTW collections for Spring 2010 also channeled this looked. I'm especailly into Alberta Ferretti's collection...

& Stella McCartney.

And what day of indulgence can go without guilty pleasure? I am more than willing to admit that the only show I make an effort to watch is Gossip Girl. I literally book out of my yoga class at 7:45 and speed racer my Honda home so as not to miss a single fabulous moment(make fun as you please). I recently came across this photo from a recent filming of the show. Blair and Chuck are, to me, without a doubt the chicest TV couple, and they're also channeling this fashionable era.

Seriously, the coat, the hat, the gloves? Everything. And Chuck? Somebody get me a fan. Come on. Cardiac arrest in the cube.

Economically, we may be channeling the 30's, so why not get a fabulous 30's inspired outfit to go with it? Costume yourself in the times. I mean, we've got to make the most of it, right?
